Journey With Hope
Virtuoso cellist Renato Lucas, violin protege Denise Huang and acclaimed pianist Carmencita Sipin-Aspiras graced the stage of the Francisco Santiago Hall in Makati last Oct. 25 and gave a performance worthy of several curtain calls and a standing ovation. Their repertoire titled "Journey With Hope" consists of Beethoven's works nearing his total deafness.Señor Lucas rendered a soulful solo called Sonata No. 3 Pianoforte and Violoncello in A Major Op. 69. Together with Ms. Huang, they performed a passionate duet titled "Kreutzer" Sonata for Violin and Piano in A Major, Op. 47. Their beautiful ensemble ended with a powerful finale as Ms. Aspiras joined them in the song "Archduke" Piano Trio in B flat major, Op. 97. That's a mouthful of titles, eh? Needless to say, Beethoven's masterpieces were skillfully executed by three of the country's first-class artists.
